Illamasqua gets PETA Certified & My #BeautyNotBrutality Look

With so much negative news to come from cosmetic industry in regards to animal testing, it's always refreshing to hear something that's good and one British beauty brand in particular has recently had every reason to celebrate an achievement of their own complete with flutes of vegan champagne. Illamasqua are famous for their incredible pigmentation, in-your-face shades and is a brand that's just something a little different to what your regular cosmetic line has to offer, but in recent weeks their PETA accreditation has understandably been the main talking point within the cruelty-free beauty world and I can't think of many others who deserve such recognition...

Homemade 'Cheese' & Onion Popcorn & PROPERCORN's #InstituteOfFlavour

Popcorn has to be one of my all-time fave go-to snacks - it's easy, quick and can have so many health benefits (depending what you throw onto it) as a great source of antioxidants, fibre and vitamin B. I love that it can be flavoured in so many ways, but my most regularly made recipe is 'cheese' - of course all recipes around these parts are vegan, but what I can let you in on is that it's the best 'cheesy' popcorn my taste buds have ever come across and it only takes a few ingredients to get it together...

Vegan Designer Fashion Picks

Vegan-friendly fashion is not all too hard to come by on the high street, with many brands and stores offering affordable, synthetic clothing and accessories, but coming across a designer replacement for my past leather handbag favourite has been more of a challenge. There are a number of high fashion brands committed to producing cruelty-free, sustainable items and there are even fewer others, who may not be known for having a full line of faux-leather goods, but just so happen to offer the odd few which get the vegan stamp of approval, though hunting them down can be the long, drawn-out and difficult part. I've had a good virtual shop about, not only for options to rebuild my own wardrobe, but also because I get asked for vegan designer fashion recommendations regularly - from left to right, top, middle and bottom, here's what I've unearthed so far...

Elemis BIOTEC Skincare System Range at John Lewis

As a previous spa-therapist, Elemis is one brand that I'm all too familiar with and with every new and exciting launch comes an extension to my shopping list. Their latest, the BIOTEC range, is available at John Lewis and is made up of three products: the Skin Energising Cleanser, Skin Energising Day Cream and Skin Energising Night Cream. I'll be giving the said trio a real road test over the next month so all eyes peeled for my final thoughts to come, but until then, here's the need-know on all skin things BIOTEC...

NIOD's Photography Fluid A.K.A an Instagram Filter for your Face

If you're familiar around these parts, you'll know a bold claim doesn't happen all too regularly unless I have a whole lot of love for something and four months into the year so far I've come across some real makeup game-changers, but there's been one that's already stood out above the rest and I'm going to go as far as saying I've unearthed my favourite product of 2016 right here. A full write-up has been in the works for a while, especially since the product in question has made an appearance in a handful of videos recently where I've proclaimed my love for it on every given occasion - allow me to introduce you to the real life Instagram filter for your face, NIOD's Photography Fluid...

My March Makeup Edit

Let me first apologise for how quite things have been around these parts more recently - uploading three videos a week has meant spending the majority of my time glued to the laptop editing, one of those being my weekly 'What I Eat' videos and they longer to merge together than it may seem. Alas, I'm trying to share my time equally back over here and though this one is a corresponding post to the tutorial that went up yesterday just in case you missed it, I've got bigger and better blog content in the works. March marks the month in which my Monthly Makeup Edits were born and it's been a whole year since my first and sure enough my much loved Urban Decay NAKED Palette was used way back then as it was in my most recent too. Expect to see a pink-toned eye, a liquid flick and false lashes as part of this makeup round up, just when you'd all said you enjoy my tutorials for the lack of falsies and heavy contour - I've got to switch it up a little here and there though, right?...

Brand New Beauty Launches

Sunday officially marked the day that spring has sprung and I'm celebrating the start of a new season by bringing you my first 'New In Beauty' post for a while. There's been some really exciting bits to have launched lately, mainly in the skin and makeup categories and just by looking at the pales, the pastels, the sheens and the shimmers, they couldn't have come at a better time. From highlights to moisturises, liners and brighteners, here's my most recent round-up of cruelty-free beautifiers to freshly hit the shelves of some of my favourite online and in-store beauty havens...

My Beauty Bag Contents and FarfetchxSpaceNK Wishlist

If there's ever a collaboration to get excited about, it's a Space NK collaboration for me - let's face it, it's always going to be a good one. A recent example is their team-up with NARS, creating the SpaceNKxNars SS16 Beauty Box, a 'look-in-a-box' type edit for a steal of a deal and it went down a right treat, but their latest has to be my favourite yet. Space NK have got together with Farfetch, an online leading luxury fashion retailer, to offer a beauty section alongside designer clothes, bags and shoes all under one virtual online roof. Since a few items from the selection can already be found in my beauty bag, I'm here to spill the contents of my cosmetic essentials as well as letting you in on my what products currently make up my FarfetchxSpaceNK wish list...

Kudos to you if you remember my beauty-offers-of-the-week round-up as it's been a hot minute since I posted the last. Alas, I'm back with some real good deals from the best online beauty havens around and they include skincare-heavy gift-with-purcahses, money off discount codes and free delivery whatever the spend, plus I've thrown in some of my most loved recommendations along the way to give you a few ideas as to what to take to the checkout. I've got a feeling this first one will be a complete sell out so without wasting anymore time, let's dive in right here for starters and you can thank me later...

My February Makeup Edit

Rewind back a month or more to My Bridesmaid Makeup Plan post where I laid out an idea of what I'd be wearing for my best friends big day. I said there and then that I'd be back with a follow-up on the products used and my finished face, and so after asking in January's Monthly Makeup edition if you'd like to see a full tutorial for February, I'm coming at you with an all-natural look which would fit the bill perfectly for wedding makeup. Most products mentioned in said post were whipped out on the day, though I've switched a few things up here but the overall finish is similar to what went down - expect to see a photo-ready base with a few products mentioned in my most recent monthly faves, a shimmery, subtle yet slightly smoked out eye and a glossy peach lip, put together using all cruelty free cosmetics...

Two New Cruelty Free Drugstore Discoveries

Switching to cruelty free has come at a cost, with most of you also chipping in to voice that a good chunk of animal friendly products are from the higher end of the scale and finding brands that do not test on animals on a more affordable level is quite the task. There have however, been a few labels I've been waiting to get my hands on, again a load of you urging me to give them a go, and whilst they might not be all new to the shelves of the drugstore, they're certainly all new to me. The brands in question are Makeup Revolution, and Essence both offering an incredible range of products, quality and colour at purse-friendly prices - you're going to want to listen up for this one...

My January Makeup Edit

Whilst we may be half-way through February, I felt it was never to late to post my Monthly Makeup Edit for January's edition, after all, this one is a tutorial you've been asking for ever since I posted my 2015 Beauty Favourites video. Something I did must have been a little different from the usual makeup wise, but it involves an eye that's subtle and smoky, skin that's fresh and glowy and a layered peach lip - I'm putting the something different down to the fact that I ran a smudge of brown along my lower lash line which I usually keep to the bare minimum, yet it adds a bit of depth to the overall natural look. As always, you can expect to see my favourite brands chip in for this one, Urban Decay, Charlotte Tilbury and Hourglass to name but a cruelty free few...

January Favourites

The time has come for my first beauty round-up of the year; a bunch of product loves from the past month that got me through what might just be the dullest of the year - between you and me, I'm quite glad January is well-rid (what a bore). To brighten up the gloomy mood, I've been sweeping on a new blush-come-bronzer discovery which, may I add, has the cutest shade name, as well as a product-add on which imparts a lovely glow to the skin with a hint of tint. In terms of dehydration, I've hit that one the head whilst coming across a new facial oil to replace an old non-CF one from no other than my all-time favourite brand - why didn't I look here before? It's quite lovely and makes your face smell like a spa - I'm okay with that. Expect to see many other wonderful, and a few weird discoveries amongst the rest - the last one's worth waiting for, it's a real good'un...

And the QVC 'Find a Beauty Brand' Winners are...

Rewind back to a post I put out last summer introducing the QVC 'Find a Beauty Brand' contest and a little bit around it - in a nutshell, undiscovered UK beauty brands can enter to be in with the chance of have their range made available both online and on the live channel, skipping the queues to join the beauty line-up along the way. For the second year running, competition was high with an incredible bunch of beauty brands making their entries - two came out tops and both have since landed their place at QVC, their products being sold alongside labels any beauty lovers will be all too familiar with such as Liz Earle, Tarte, Perricone MD and Bare Minerals to name but a fancy few...

TBS Drops of Youth New Additions

In true TBS style, a new range comes and goes (down an absolute treat) be it skin, hair or body care, it's been that way ever since my discovery days of this brand - their Drops of Youth skincare range a true example of this. A few years back, it was released as part of the Nutriganics line and since it was much loved by many, they've recently welcomed two new additions to complete the 6-step product regime, have revamped a previous number and the packaging too has had a received an overhaul. Now, I can't say I tried anything from the lot the first time around, but this second special re-launch had me thinking this really has got to be something good...

Brand New Beauty Launches

A whole lot has happened on the new-just-in side of the beauty world as of late, hence another one of these round-ups to swiftly follow after the last. I've had a hunt about and rounded-up a bunch of some of the best brand-spanking new beauty releases and what's more, all of the above are cruelty free and so should lend a helping hand if you're making the transition to re-stocking your stash, or to simply introduce you to some new skin, hair tools and makeup products - from left to right, top, middle and bottom we have...

What's in My LoveLula.com Basket?

Rewind to around this time last year where I popped up a post on my discovery of a certain beauty site, a new find that got me asking where it had been hiding the whole time. The product haven in question is LoveLula.com, an all natural, all organic edit of beauty bits, a wide majority falling into the vegan and cruelty free categories too across an incredible selection of brands including a few of my very favourites. It's now a site I log onto a few times weekly, browsing the 'just in' goodies and dropping the products I lust in my virtual basket along the way. Whilst things in there are constantly being added and replaced, I thought I'd give you an insight to my basket contents as of now and where I'm looking to make my purchases...

A Day on My Plate as a Vegan

If there's any excuse to cook food, eat food and talk about all things food I'll take it and so I'm back to serving up my day on a plate as a vegan in video form to show you what goes down for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the snacks in between. There's been a few major changes since my last version like this one but I'm hoping it goes to show just how easy, delicious and nutritious it really is to go down this lifestyle route and being the biggest foodie myself, I like to make my dishes as tasty as possible. From energy shots, to juices, salads and stir-frys, you can find a little bit of everything from this one day and if it goes down a treat, I may just make them a once-monthly thing...

New week, new start and a new batch of the best beauty offers around as of now. I've hunted down the discounts, deals and free gifts with purchases that come out tops this week and there though I couldn't track down as many good'uns as usual, there's still some pretty sweet offers - so whether it's to stock up on some of your favourite loves, a gift to self or for someone else, here's where to save a bit of dosh or to get a little complimentary treat thrown in for good measure...

My Bridesmaid Makeup Plan

After what feels like a year of counting-down, it's now only next weekend that my best friend finally walks down the isle and I have the absolute honour of being her one and only bridesmaid. It's my first time, and I'm not going to lie, my only worry is a clumsy stumble as I make my entrance but other than that, my excitement for her big day is currently on another level. Not only that, I'm delighted to be doing her makeup and whilst her bridal bits have been purchased - we pretty much spent a whole day shopping for it and it was the ultimate dream - a trail has taken place, and is soon to be followed by another, so she's sorted for that side of things. That said, I've only just had a think about my bridesmaid makeup plan, but with years of wedding makeup application in the bag, I've got a feeling I've got this one sorted...

Beauty Favourites of 2015

It's a given at this time of the year to round-up every favourite from the last for the biggest beauty ramble I could deliver to you over the space of the last twelve months. Think of it as one rather large monthly favourites if you will, that includes all the beauty things I loved to discover in 2015. That said, considering my switch to cruelty free 6 months in, some things that were maybe mentioned at early part of the year won't be re-featured nor repurchased - it means things are probably a little more limited than usual when it comes to these yearly beauty gatherings as my collection is now a heck of a whole lot more condensed. However, I did come across some incredible animal-friendly brands and I'm looking forward to the new discoveries to come. We nearly hit the 20-minute time stamp on this one, don't say I didn't warn you - so grab yourself a cuppa and I'll meet you there...

Brand New Beauty Launches

The 'What's New' and 'Just-in' sections to any online beauty haven are my most visited and to say I don't refresh those pages on a daily basis would be a little bit of a lie. As of lately there seems to have been some pretty awesome looking launches landed - I've had a hunt about and rounded-up a bunch of some of the best brand-spanking new beauty releases. Best of all, everything you see above is cruelty free and so following my Five Steps to Cruelty Free post, should lend you a helping hand if you're making the transition to re-stocking your stash, or to simply introduce you to some new skin, hair and home-fragrance brands...

Beauty Trend Predictions for 2016

Beauty trends can vary from seriously weird to very wonderful - the whole makeup 'baking' and strobe highlighting being a few tricks and trends of the past year for example. I personally love to hear what's new and different, but I'm not usually too fussed about following anything myself unless it's real good. That said, I've plucked three beauty trend predictions out of the air for the new year ahead and I think these are a few that could go big, and in fact, are the kind that I could get on board with but I'll let you decide whether you would or not for yourself on these ones...

Five Steps Closer to Cruelty Free

Making the switch to all cruelty free was a huge achievement for me not only in 2015, but also in life - you see, for a product lover to cut so many beauty ties is a pretty big thing to do, it's completely changed the way I look and think of things as a whole, but I'm here to confirm it's not as scary as it may seem. For me, it wasn't a decision that happened overnight, but baby steps in the right direction will get you there - it's also important to take note that what might be cruelty free for me, might be a different route for you, whether you chose to go the whole vegan only way, or whether you chose to support parent companies of CF brands that still test on animals or not - the decision is ultimately yours, but these five steps should help edge you a little closer to becoming cruelty free with your beauty...

How to Build a Skincare Wardrobe

My skincare wardrobe started from the bottom, now we're here: three shelves of products that's got to the point of boarding ridiculousness. The struggle is real to use everything evenly on rotation and I could definitely do with bringing things back to the basics, however, a new promising skincare product is my ultimate weakness . Alas, I'm here to help you build your skincare wardrobe, and a cruelty free one at that, if you really are starting from the bottom - the basics should always be to cleanse, tone and moisturise, if you're only at that point, you can revert back to this post to build upon it later down the line, but if you're ready to add in a few more items, here's hoping this will give you a little bit of an idea...

Supercharging Skincare

Forgive me if this is one party I'm a little on the late side to, but it has to be said the genius idea around skincare supercharging seems to be really taking off and I for one am all over the idea of adding shots of goodness to my favourite treatments. Concentrated doses of vitamins, nutrients and instant sun-kissed colour are beginning to make appearances from my most-loved skincare lines - I'm yet to get my paws on the Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops since falling for their foundation variation - but most recently, two from This Works have had me hooked, one rediscovered oldie and the other a discovered newbie...

My One Month Quick Skin Fix Plan

Gone were the bad skin days (well, almost) when I switched up my diet to all-diary free, it didn't bode well with my breakouts and things have been a whole lot clearer since seeing the back of it, however, stress still seems to play a pretty large part in any problems I now run in to and I've sure enough had a rough time in life recently, hello all the blemishes. In a little under a month, my best friend finally ties the knot, I'm her only bridesmaid, my skin is the worst it's been in a good while and I'm in need of a fast turn-around - The plan? A good bunch of products, juice cleanses and an inside-out detox to get my complexion back on the road to clear skin recovery...

Insta-prints with Cheerz!

Count me in as one of those people who has the ability to clog up all devices with a backlog of snaps, and I have to admit I'm pretty awful at getting round to saving them somewhere safe as a back up and all - I guess that's a challenge to set myself for this year, eh? It's a work in progress but I've made some baby steps in the right direction with hardcopy print offs (something I haven't done since the days of disposable cameras) of my favourite Insta-pics using Cheerz; a site that brings your memories to life in many ways, from strips, to boxes, magnets, to frames, posters and then some, not only from your favourites over on Instagram, but from your Facebook, your Flickr, your Dropbox, your phone and computer too...

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016 & Thank You

What better way to kick off the New Year with a reflection of the last (even if you are probably sick of the sight of this style of post by now). Whilst the past year hasn't been the best for me personal life wise in any way, shape or form, it was the first year I went in full throttle on my little corner of the interwebs and some pretty amazing things have come from it. Let's start this whole thing off by taking a little look back at some of my favourite posts from the past year, followed by my plans for what's to come in the next and a little thank you to all of you...
