Sanctuary Spa Rediscovered

Discovering new brands and rediscovering old has been one of the best parts of switching to cruelty free - sometimes you've just got to be reminded of what you're missing. One line I've recently come back across is not only affordable but is also easily accessible - it gets better - the Sanctuary Spa offers both bath and body, skincare and home fragrance, this one's a good all rounder, a brand I first dipped into back in my school days and I haven't really gone there since - to me it was a luxurious line found on the drugstore shelves, and that it still is but minus a hefty price tag. I've been road-testing some of my old faves to see whats changed as well as delving into a few new bits that have been on my list and the results for all are in...

In terms of skincare, their Warming Cleansing Butter Balm has stepped in as one of my evening second-stage cleansers. Thick in consistency much like my other balmy numbers, it doesn't however transform into an oil once worked into the skin and in fact stays more of a butter. It's a little bit harder to work with and I wouldn't take it anywhere near the eyes but it is a breeze to remove with a hot cloth and doesn't leave any residue on the skin, it feels nourished and non-stripped post-cleanse but I can't say it's the best balm I've ever smothered onto my skin. One product that I adore though and was the first I came across from this brand is their 1 Minute Warming Microdermabrasion Polish - it's comes as an ultra-gentle face exfoliator that heats up as you rub and it's the dreamiest feeling. I've been cracking this out once a week for a treat resulting in a smoother surface to take on further products better, such as another once-weekly option, their Beauty Sleep Face Mask. Formulation wise, it's a luxe jelly which helps increase hydration levels as you snooze, leaving you with skin that looks and feels healthier and more plump, soft and smooth when you wake up. Whilst it might sound like a hot, sticky mess, it does sink straight in and won't smear all over your pillow and is a great dupe for a certain Drink Up mask I used to snooze in.

In the shower, I've been sloughing away with the Ultimate Salt Scrub - it's got to be said, these kind of products just get me and I'm one for a good body buff. Using a blend of dead sea salts suspended in nourishing coconut, sweet almond and jojoba oils, it refines and resurfaces the limbs for silky smooth skin that I tend to indulge in a few times a month. On a more regular occasion, I've been washing down with the 2 Day Moisture Shower Oil which uses rich of gold pleasure oils to help retain hydration in the skin for up to 48 hours. A small amount suds up to leave a silky veil over the skin, protecting and supporting along the way as well as leaving the limbs lingering in a beautiful spa-like scent.

With Boots' 3-for-2 across all skincare offer on now, here's probably a good time to rediscover some Sanctuary Spa bits for yourself and a chance for me to bag backups - race you there?
