My Makeup Life Lately

Since whittling down my cosmetics collection to virtually empty drawers, I've been on a tighter restriction in terms of product rotation - alas, this is a good thing, it means I'm using stuff up instead of them sitting gathering dust. As I've been pulling out a lot of the same staples I thought I'd let you in on what's been going on in my makeup life lately - a few of my most used products and tools that I've been making the most of to piece together my daily face. By the looks of things I've been focusing heavy on and around the eyes whilst brightening and highlighting at the same time. Here's what's made the cut...

Shadow wise, not much as changed but in terms of application, something has. Sigma's Buff & Blend E39 brush has stepped in to sweep some definition through the crease - dome shaped, full and fluffy and super soft, it buffs shades in seamlessly and has fast become my new favourite eye tool. Brows I've been going brown, broad and bold with and there's been two options I've switched up between. Pixi's Brow Duo is a recent rediscovered love, one end a triangular-tipped nib and the other tinted gel - it fills in and sets things nicely, but for something that requires a bit more skill, I've been reaching for another old faithful in the way of HD Brows' Bombshell Palette. Four colours make up the compact which I occasionally double-up as shadows, but my most used are the bottom two which darken and define just how I like it.

Liner for me is usually of the liquid kind, but I’ve been smudging on this The Eye Pencil Primatif kohl from Kevyn Aucoin along my upper lash line for an edgier look that I muster up using the opposite spongy end to the creamy, highly-pigmented pencil to which blends and buffs the liner for a softer result. In terms of concealer, I’ve also been going for KA’s Sensual Skin Enhancer, a multi-purpose product which I use pre-foundation application for an extra layer of coverage where needed - it’s a little too light for me in shade but it works in my favour for giving my face a bit of a brighten. Speaking of which, I’ve dug out my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone again since the release of the poured version to tap on all the high points for a subtle sheen. Finely milled, buttery and easily blend able, it sits beautifully on the skin, capturing the light exactly where you want it. Lastly and for lashes I’ve been coating on Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes - it does what it says on the tube by creating fuller, thicker lashes with a whole load of volume, plus it holds a tight curl pretty well too.

There you have the makeup bits that have been getting a whole lot of love from me as of late and as a heads up, you can expect a repeated rave in my upcoming October Faves...
