My Concert Makeup

My last experience at a concert wasn't a very cool one - I was hit with sunstroke and spent the most part rolling around in a ball at peoples feet and my face was a sweaty, melted mess as a result of it. Awkward. I hoped that my panda-eye history wouldn't repeat itself on Saturday night as I had the evening lined up at London's O2 with the four beautiful faces that make up One Direction. My SOS kit was packed for my fear of heights (we were literally seated on the ceiling) and my makeup planned out, for a show that I like to think of as one big par-tay, so I busted out the smudge-proof, stay-in-place picks with a little shimmer thrown into the mix...

My current go-to foundation of choice is By Terry’s Sheer Expert - it’s glowy, it’s dewy and it’s like skin-on-skin coverage which makes my complexion appear flawless, yet it adapts to all skin types so if things get a little shiny it tends to mattify and become slightly powdery to tone things down. On top of that, I misted with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray to keep things in place; a spritz over finished makeup stops it from budging, especially as I braved standing up where we sat to bust out some moves. Since it came to that, my cheeks developed their own rosy-flush so it was a good thing I kept those pretty low key, but if you can’t have a little shimmer going on for a major group sing-along then I’m not really sure when you can, so I cracked out the big gun, Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in ‘Moonstone’, a pale gold which captures the light beautifully when applied to all high points.

Eye-wise I picked out my faithful and very neutral NARS And God Created The Woman Palette to muster up something bronzy and smoky - the usual. I tend to dust a little of the champagne shimmer in my inner corners, a layer of the rose-gold over the lids and the glittery bronze through the crease and along my lower lash line. To finish it off, I have Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes Mascara on the go at the moment and it’s exactly that, full and fluttery with lashings of volume, adding a whole lot of extra drama to my heavy eye makeup, but I tacked on some Eylure Individuals too for an extra somethin' somethin'. Lips I’m stuck with a non-smeary and nude in the way of Charlotte duo - her Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk outlines nicely but acts as a bit of a base for her KISSING Lipstick in Penelope Pink is the ultimate my-lips-but-better kind of hue with a slight satin finish. It’s comfy to wear and stays put, exactly what I’m after, after all, I was blurting out all the lyrics to 'Steal My Girl' (and then some) so a bolder option was never on the cards.

You can get an idea of the concert essentials I threw in my clutch from back in this post and for future gigs I feel I've got things covered: SOS kit sorted, makeup bag contents lined up and I even knew the setlist order off by heart this time round. Fangirl? Me? You’ve got the wrong person…
