With my summer colour slowly fading, I'm on the race against time of being back to lily-white to keep my healthy-looking hue topped up for a little while longer yet and I've got my fair share of head-to-toe bronzers, highlighters and instant glow-givers to get me there. For the time being, I'm enjoying my natural tan whilst I can before I have to go back to reaching for the 9/10 foundations from my collection that are every pale girl's problem of being the lightest shade from each range. Let me run you through, but just expect to hear 'shimmer', 'bronzed' and 'sheen' amongst the most used words below...
Makeup wise, a bronzer that keeps me looking healthy year-round comes in the way of NARS' Laguna shade - sweep on, blend in and you have your cheeks some instant shade of sun-kissed. There's that too in liquid form - meet the Laguna Illuminator which can be applied under makeup, mixed in with it or applied on top and the results are a lot dewier than the previously mentioned powder. Keeping the golden glow going on the cheekbones is Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in 'Moonstone', a finely-milled powder which catches the light just right when swiped on in all the high places. A bronzer sans shimmer is the Hourglass Superficial Bronzer - much more of a summertime staple being a waterproof formula and all, it's the perfect non-muddy hue to warm the skin up a bit. On the opposite end, is their Ambient Lighting Powder Palette, a trio of glows in the form of a bronzer, highlighter and setting powder housed in one compact. They're very much real-life Insta-filters for your face, capturing and softening how light reflects on the skin and brightening the complexion overall. Completing the missing formula here, Topshop's Glow Stick in 'Heat' is a twist-up cream stick which blends on a dream, buffs out beautifully inducing a natural shade of bronze where the sun would hit.
To keep limbs looking glowy, I've been layering on Prtty Peaushun's Body Lotion in 'Medium' - it perfects, corrects and leaves a lovely sheeny trail of gold. A thicker, richer option is The Body Shop's Coconut Shimmer Body Butter which induces more of a silver glimmer, but the skin is left lingering of dreamy, creamy coconut and I am more than okay with that. Note the running theme here - This Works' Perfect Legs Skin Miracle does what it says on the tin; a miracle hint-of-tint for the legs which hides up blemishes, bruises scratches and scars whilst resulting a healthy-looking finish. Lastly, Nourish's Golden Glow Toning Body Shimmer is lovely, lightweight and leaves a glistening surface to the skin.
Phew, I think I can quite happily go right on through 'til next summer knowing that my shelves are well and truly stocked with beautiful bronzes and subtle shimmers. Glowing for days.
