Beauty Bits by My Bedside

When bedtime rolls around, it's not just at the bathroom sink where my beauty routine draws to an end - it extends to the point of which it can go no further for the day, my bedside. Whereas your typical table members would most probably consist of a reading lamp, a book and an alarm clock, mine is cluttered (neatly, cluttered, with thanks to these trays from The White Company) with balms, creams, oils and mists to sink in while I snooze and set me up for a good nights kip...

Before I crack on with my evening skincare, I switch on my MUJI Aroma Diffuser; a cylinder device that uses ultrasonic waves to vaporise water and churn out a cool, dry mist with a delicate whiff when paired with your essential oil of choice. With 4 different time settings and a bright/dim light option, you can program it in to do its thing - I usually start it up for 60 minutes on a low light, so I can walk back in to lightly fragranced room and carry out my ritual/read a book beside it - if I drop off somewhere in between, it'll shut down once the timer is up.

No matter where I place my Perricone Omega 3's around the kitchen as a reminder to ingest one with dinner, I always forget, so I take one before I settle down. Made using the purest source, they're loaded with health benefits, including an uplift in mood, healthier cardiovascular system and most importantly, good skin. They slip down pretty easy with a gel case and unlike the cheapy capsules, don't repeat fish burps on you *shudder*.

Once I've spritzed my bedding in This Works' Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, I find it pretty hard to keep my peepers open. Concocting lavender, vetiver and chamomile, this mist winds you down and sends you off to the land of nod. My love for that has spread to their Deep Sleep Night Oil, a nourishing body treatment - I pump a small puddle into my palm and slather it up my arms and chest. As well as encouraging slumber, it sinks in deep to relax stressed muscles and come morning, I wake feeling hella good - plus, it won't get your sheets all greasy (P.s I picked up this set which houses both for a whole lot cheaper). Joining those is a pot of solid Sleep Balm, which is rubbed onto pulse points and temples - my answer to kicking headaches up the backside.

As the final steps, I mask my hands in L'Occitane's Shea Butter Hand Cream, which smells so nice and heals my dry mitts, follow with a brush of super nourishing cuticle oil by Dr Lewinn's, and lastly, load up on Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm (my one true love). With that done early night, every night, I don't remember the last time I had a bad.. nights... sl.... zZzzZZzz....

  1. The L'Occitane hand cream and the Burt's Bees lip balm are loooovely indeed!
