All-Over-The-Lid Shadow Singles

On the (very) odd occasion I get great joy out of pulling up a chair in front of my dressing  table mirror to muster up the multi-step eye look; primer-lid-tear-duct-crease-browbone - the whole shebang. I'm putting that down to the fact that on a rushed day to day basis, I tend to swirl my finger through one does-it-all shade, sweep it on and give it a brief blend out. Simples. I own a handful of single shadows that are capable of pulling off the all-over-the-lid look - and yes, I get they're pretty much identical shade wise. Don't judge me...

Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadow in Rosewood - One of six neutral-hued shadow singulars from their Autumn '14 collection. Deemed a new generation cream-to-powder formula - though not the kind of cream-to-powder you and I had in mind - they're incredibly buttery and silky, offering the smoothing effect of a cream with the lasting powder power. This one's a stunning greyish brown, it looks pretty amazing on the lids of blue or green eyes and could just have shot to the top of my all time faves.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Emerveille - Sheeny and a golden, peachy-pink in shade, here we have a true cream consistency that, when glided on all over instantly perks up tired looking peepers with a natural glow. Easy peasy popped on with the ring finger, it's the ultimate everyday, works-with-anything, all-over colour.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Velvet Plum - Dense enough to use as liners, but malleable enough to pop all over the lid, these long-wear creams stick about longtime. Playing true to its name in texture and hue, one of my top picks, Velvet Plum is a metallic warm bronze that dries with a plummy tone to it.

MAC's Soba - Not too far off my own skin tone in shade and not too heavy on the shimmer front, though just enough finely milled golden particles to only add to its prettiness. Bringing warmth to the lids and defining whislt looking barely-there, it's the queen of the one wash wonders for those all too regular no makeup, makeup times.

L'Oreal Infallable in Bronzed Taupe - When you're feeling something smoky without the effort, meet this guy - a pressed pigment that packs on a punch and blends out beautifully, it does all the hard work for you. I regret to reveal this shade is only available stateside, but on UK shores we have a decent range - that aside, they really just come down to the intense pigmentation, longevity and all round wow-power.

L'Oreal Colour Riche in Cafe Saint Germain - Ah, another winner from L'Oreal. Their latest mono's are as incredible the aforementioned, though in sleeker, with less fall out and more of a gel-infused texture. Available in an array of finishes and colours - Cafe Saint Germain is lovely FYI - these are the single shadow wearers dream.
