The Oil Based Facial

In recent evenings, I've found myself stuck in a bit of a skincare routine rut, but a good rut - my (usually dry/dehydrated) complexion is the most content it's been in an age and I'm not gonna argue with that. The three main products in particular all have an oily something in common and the facial I've been drenching my skin in includes a cleansing oil, an oil balm and a treatment oil, and paired up in conjunction has swiftly rid the dry, flaky patches that cling to my chin and nose, rapidly reduced pesky breakouts and has just left things looking plump overall. This one's for everyone, that includes you oily skin gals - I've named it the oil-based facial...

To melt away my face of the day, Una Brennan's Skin Renew Cleansing Oil comes in - a smallpalm puddle size breaks down everything, eye makeup and all pretty effortlessly with thanks to its dreamy, silky smooth texture. Swept over with a hand-hot flannel, my skin already feels rather juicy at this point, but for the next moisture step I then go in for a balmy second cleanse - the usual - my current go-to is Sarah Chapman's Ultimate Cleanse but I've also got Elemis' Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm on the go. Ingredients wise, they're both packed with the plant oil good stuff; SC's offering combines borage and baobab oils - hefty doses of Omega 3 right there, and the Pro-Collagen Balm's key ingredients elderberry, starflower and optimega for their firming, plumping and hydrating duties. Massaged into the skin, these whittle down and break away any leftover makeup residue leaving the skin deep cleansed but at the same time nicely nourished.

Following my exfoliating tone and a hydrating mist, the final oil-based layer comes from Clarins' Blue Orchid Facial Treatment Oil aimed at the dehydrated complexions among us, but two other options are available to cater for oily or dry skin gals too. If you close you're eyes and inhale it's heavenly scent, you can almost pretend you've stepped foot in a top notch spa for a second - it's super relaxing and I'm pretty sure that this stuff is what aids towards my good nights kip, and come morning I then awake to that 'I've-been-drinking-my-8-glasses-a-day-when-I-really-haven't' look. Again, I'm not gonna to argue with that...
