Lauder's Lighter Bases

Not that I like to shun the idea of a new face base addition, but let's take Estee Lauder for example - their highly raved about Double Wear Foundation has never been top of my wish list, heck, it's never even made it onto a wish list, and I seemed to have tarnished all of their bases with the same brush - heavy and cakey sounding, it's far from what I usually like to blend on. Hey, I could be so wrong, but for now I've been giving two of their lighter offerings a go and couldn't be more chuffed with the results they serve up...

You've seen me bring up the Estée Lauder Clear Difference Complexion Perfecting BB Creme in conversation here - not only does it hide blemishes and cancel out redness with its colour correcting pigments but it gets to work at banishing them whilst it's at it. Blending in flawlessly, it delivers a healthy, radiant glow to my skin and keeps things hydrated throughout the day.

But the latest addition to join alongside the latter in my face base drawer is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-In-Place Makeup (as sported in the picture above). Unlike its full-on DW sister, this one offers a sheer to medium coverage, is barely-there-detectable and leaves a super fresh, natural yet semi-matte finish. Come the end of the day, my application still looks just as good as when it first went on - 15 hour wear? It's true. Plus it sits put in the heat and humidity, and the SPF 10 addition contributes towards sun protection. I found my perfect match with the shade 1.0 Intensity FYI, the lightest out of the six - saying that, after a scout about there seems to be a few 0.5 in-between shades added to the mix. I've tried applying it in all sorts of ways but my best bet is a blob popped on my three fingers and blended in - quick, easy and the most seamless looking finish.

It doesn't come in all too cheap at £28.50 a tube and can be found over at Mistry's as part of their EL range, but I've got a funny feeling in my tummy that this is going to step in as one of my top complexion picks this summer as it's simply lovely. I can't see the original number joining in anytime soon, this however, is my kind of Double Wear...

  1. How many tinted moisturisers and Bb creams can one have?! There are so many amazing formulas out there and so many that I have NOT tried that I am overwhelmed! What would be your top 3 for a normal skinned girl Jessica!?
