The MUJI Drawers: Spring Edition

Since I've welcomed and rearranged a few more stacks to my MUJI stash, it only felt right to go in for the full-on spring clean whilst I was at it. My three-drawer box now sits at the base and houses my lip product lot, sandwiched in between are two duo drawers and on top rests the same container but with a nifty lifting lid. Note to self: Do not place Diptyque candles on top and attempt to pull away the top tray essentially creating a slippery acrylic slope; cue near candle waxy mess. For now, I've set this aside and loaded it up with my go-to makeup picks for spring, here's what we've got...

To avoid 'cake face' in the bright morning light, I'm bringing out the almost undetectable bases, starting with Garnier's Miracle Skin Cream. Serving up a healthy hint of tint along with a dewy glow, it works well as a base beneath other products or on its own for lazy makeup days. Another lightweight but luminous option comes from Bourjois, the 123 Perfect CC Cream. With colour correcting properties it delivers an evened skin tone with decent coverage yet still feels super subtle - I found my perfect match with the shade 31 Ivory BTW. For an extra touch of bronze, NARS' Laguna Illuminator can be used under makeup, mixed in with it or popped on top. Their Radiant Creamy Concealer comes into play where more coverage is needed, hiding up blemishes, scars, areas of redness and my cringeworthy under eye circles. When I've been reversing the order of product application (see here), I've called in MAC's Prep & Prime Translucent Powder - applied under my base provides me with super long lasting staying power and a touch more coverage.

When it comes to blush, there's only one currently doing it for me - it goes by the name of Radiana Magenta from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush line-up. Combining their well-raved about Ambient Lighting Powders with vibrant shades, a built-up or sheered-out sweep serves up a glowy flush of colour to the apples, but I'm keeping my options open and have Burberry's peachy hued Tangerine blush for the more toned down days. For a sweep of sheen, Diorskin Nude's Instant Illuminating Powder highlights all the right places when my skin is in need of a perk up, and to give me those faux chiselled cheekbones, there's Kevin Aucoin's The Sculpting Powder to hand.

Eye wise, NARS' palette offering from last spring is making a reappearance with a six shade neutral hued selection. My current one-sweep wonder comes from MAC and goes by the name of Soba, a soft brown with a subtle golden sheen which brings out blue-y green eyes. Two creamy colours have made the cut, both similar in shade though Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre in Emerveille is a pinker, toned down version of L'Oreal's Infalliable Eyeshadow in Amber Rush - more of a warm, reddish copper with orange undertones. My current mascara of choice to load up my lashes is MUFE's Smokey Lash - volume, length and curl in a sweep. Sold. Orange lips are the in thang, and MAC's Morange has spring trend written all over it. keep everything else pretty minimal when donning this number. A less glossy offering is Revlon's Matte Balm in Striking with a bit more of a reddy punch to it, and to sheer things out completely, By Terry Tint to Lip in Beach Game stains my pout a nice colourful shade of coral.

Of course a candle has to be thrown into the mix, and even though I'm yet to strike a match to a fresh-out-the-box Baies candle from Diptyque, it still seems to be throwing florally wafts my way...

I'm still the Muji-less beauty blogger. I don't have a specific spring rotation, but there are some products I always reach for: NARS Laguna Bronzer and the Dr. Jart Waterfuse BB Cream. I'm really keen on trying the Bourjois CC Cream. x
