Post-Flight Makeup

When it comes to planes, I'm well travelled - and well used to having all signs of life sucked out of my complexion because of it. You've seen my post-flight saviours; skincare, vitamins and everything else I reach for in the moments following a flight but what about the makeup you gotta rely on in times like these? Well this little lineup has me covered be it an early morning landing, for plans to head out right after touch down or to get through the dreary skin days to come...

My skin gets it bad, like really bad, I'm talking puffy, dull and in need of a damn good hol - cue Bourjois' CC Cream, a colour correcting combo of 3 pigments; apricot to fight signs of fatigue, green for anti-redness and white to sort dark spots - it serves up a decent coverage whilst leaving my complexion with a dewy dose. My under eye circles are shameful even on a good day, but after a 20 hour overnight commute? Don't go there. NARS' Radiant Creamy Concealer is one of the few that'll fix this - a swipe under each peeper camouflages any blue-toned hues whilst giving everything a bit of a brighten. I'll also take it onto blemishes and areas of redness for that extra coverage without the cakey-ness.

To perk up my complexion in general, a flush of an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush usually does the trick. I own the shade Radiant Magenta, a bright hint of pink that doesn't sweep on half as scarily as it appears in the pan, fear not. Swirled together into a marble effect with their Ambient Lighting Powders, not only do these add colour to your apples, they deliver a summery glow and all. A quick squeeze with Shu Uermura's Lash Curlers followed by a coat of mascara works wonders for widening tired eyes as does a lining of Custom 3 Color's Light Clarifying Pencil - rimmed along the waterline, it brightens, reduces redness and is teary-eyed proof.  Bringing a bit of colour to the lids but still keeping it neutral is Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Shadow Stick in Sand Dune, a nude toned hue laced with the finest golden shimmer which somehow makes my peepers appear awakened, then a sweep of Clarins' Lip Perfector in Candy Shimmer delivers the same hint of pink to my pout as my cheeks but with an added sheen and moisture slick. For a final refresh, adding back a hit of hydration and dewifying the just applied products, I welcome Omorovicza's Queen of Hungary Mist - this usually follows as my post-exfoliating toner, toner but is a good'un used as a midday pick-me-up too. With that said, the only signs of fatigue to be seen will be yours truly laying on a beach sunbed. Bring. It. On.
