When In Doubt, These Products Come Out...

There's a time and a place for a little bit of experimental makeup, for me it seems to be pre-cleanse just before I head off to bed - don't ask - I've found myself up in front of my dressing table mirror in the early hours of the morning fully involved in a product party a few too many times before. Hey, that's ok, but other times it's maybe best if you stick to what you know, play it safe - luckily enough, I've got some holy grails that have my back for when I become stuck in a bit of a beauty rut, all situations covered, and in those times of doubt, these are the products that get brought out...

A bad skin day is not the time to put a new face base to the test - the one foundation which never fails to make my skin look flawless, even when it's really not, is YSL's Le Teint Touch Eclat. Serving up just the right amount of coverage to hide unwelcome imperfections, it's yet dewy and glowy - one of those 'second skin' finishes I'll say. I can always rely on Kevin Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer dabbed in all the right places to cover up and add a little radiance - nothing does the job quite like it. Sometimes I feel a flush of blush, others not so much and it's those moments I'll allow myself to fall into the safety net of Guerlain's Terracotta Bronzer for an all-over healthy glow. Note to self: Blush is for brave days. I suffer from a case of 'tired eyes', all day everyday. Early morning experiments with champagne shimmers has further enhanced that not-so-good-look before, but 3 Custom Color's Light Clarifying Pencil  is like a good nights sleep, in a pencil. Drawn along the inner eye, its flesh-toned hue brightens and awakes, and with a budge-resistant formula it's set to hang about long-time. Speaking of no smudges, I'm yet to find a mascara that won't leave me resembling a panda no thanks to my streamy peepers, so whenever a little wary, I'll sweep Anastasia's Lash Genius, a clear, waterproof topcoat, to seal things in until I've weighed up a new tube.

There are a whole lot of lip balms I love, but nothing, noth-ing, transforms a dry, flaky pout into a plump, well nourished one like the Burt's Bees Lip Balms do. I'm currently swiping on the super fruity Mango Butter flavour, but I've got to give it to the Honey number for its sweet scent and ability to keep my lips soft for at least 5 hours straight - I like to rotate my balmy army, but this is my saviour in needed times of a quick-fix as other contenders can further worsen the splitting-lip situation. Now if my hair do won't quite be stylin' the way I'd planned and I find myself juggling a set of volumizing, texturizing holders for help, I've learnt to simply settle for a can of Oribe's Thick Dry Finishing Spray, whirled all over in a 'halo' like motion et voila - freshly blow-dried-esque locks are created within a mist...
