The Morning Detox After the New Years Eve Before...

Party-goer? Nope, not me. Though there is one night of the year where I'm quite happy to let my locks down, that occasion being NYE - things usually get a bit wild, and the other night was no different. It involved celebrating, resolution making and a few too many champagne flute clinks, but roll forward to the not-so-fruity morning after, where the idea of a detox to start the year off on the right foot seemed like a good one and, as always, I'm bringing it back down to beauty...

Believe it or not, (and I'm not all too sure myself how it was managed) I'd already started things off before clambering into bed that night - out came the Green Tea One Night Detox, two sticky sheets which adhere to a tea-bag like pads, then get slapped on the soles of your feet. They work their magic whilst you snooze, increasing circulation and giving metabolism a bit of a boost, allowing toxins and waste to drain - going from the colour change on the pads, and the big ol' energy kick you get the following morning it sure does something. Following that, I mixed into a glass of water a good glug of Faust's Potions Asleep cure, one of two turbo-boosted concoctions, filled to the brim with good stuff; vitamins, minerals and herbal extracts, that when thrown back after a night out and on the morning of the night before, really take the sting out of that dreaded hangover feeling. Upon wake up I reached for the Awake option, washed down with the refreshing, if even slightly funky tasting Vita Coco for a kick up the backside to prevent a day-long doze.

After cleansing and hot clothing off remaining makeup scraps, a hair wash shower job with Bumble's Sunday Shampoo was next on the cards - it leaves strands super clean, and gives me the excuse to go a 3 day stint with no shampoo . Nothing screams detox than a good clay based face mask - cue REN's Invisible Pores Detox Mask, an all-round redness reducer and blemish banisher, then pre-moisturise I slicked on Lierac's Diopticalm Anti-Fatigue Balm and Mask to de-puff those pesky bags. I can't lie, I'd much rather go makeup free in situations like these, but a couple of product pick-me-ups include Custom 3 Color's Clarifying Pencil for a waterline brighten, Perricone MD's No Concealer Concealer to cover dark circles, then a quick grip with Shu Uemera's lash curlers and I'm just about looking as good as new. Only just.
