New Year's Beauty Resolutions

January 1st, the time of the year where healthy outlooks on life are made (and in my case, well and truly broken a week on), exactly the reason why I'm not usually one for resolutions - I simply suck at sticking to 'em. But this year I plan to give it things good stab with not one, not two, but three beauty-related vows, two of which I think will be a breeze to keep, but my number one pledge might take a little (a lot) more willpower, don't hold me to it. Here goes...

Blog often and organised. After a couple of hints, I unwrapped a large Moleskine ruled pad this Christmas from my brother - this is set to be my main blogging book; scheduled posts, monthly faves and other added extras will all go in, in an attempt to get me organised - I foresee plenty of sleepless nights ahead. Smythson have me sorted for on-the-go jottings with one of their handbag friendly notebooks - I maybe should have opted for the more encouraging 'Make It Happen' quote but 'Blah Blah Blah ...' sums up my scrawls and scribbles pretty well, though I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to put a pen to its wafer thin, gilt-edged, pale blue paper. Swoooon.

Up the supplements. A detailed post on the supplements, seeds and vitamins I knock back is most definitely in the works, and although I've been pretty consistent with my vitamin and omega oil intake in the past, I admit I've slacked a bit more recently - my skin, hair and nails suffering big time for it. Upping my supplements and welcoming a few new additional top-ups is the plan. Starting. From. Now.

Brush wash weekly. Come Saturday, every brush in my bunch seems to have been dirtied up from a whole weeks worth of makeup dipping and dusting, and chances are, when I'm in a bit of a rush I'll still grab-reuse-and-go (gross) then I wonder why I'm getting blemish breakouts, eh?! I've pencilled penned 'tool laundry' in every Sunday for many weeks to come - it's not as much of a chore as we all seem to make it out to be, and with the help of my good pal Dr Bronner, my brushes bristles are squeaky clean in a matter of minutes.

Six months down the line I'll give you a mid-year resolution recap (already marked in the Moleskine) for an update on where I'm at with them all. Place your bets below...

  1. I too need to start washing my brushes more often, I always leave them to the last minute and then they make my skin bad! Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your resolutions :)

  4. I need to wash my brushes weekly as well! I keep doing it every other week but sometimes they just get a little too dirty by the time I wash them and that's just no good!

  7. The Smythson notebook - swoon!! They're a bit out of my price range but love the personalised part! I'm terrible at washing my brushes way too embarrassed to say I'm not sure when I last did them. Oops. Tonight it is!
