Nails Inc. My Nail Polish Diary

For all of us lacquer lovers, things don't get much more droolworthy than the likes of Ciate's Advent Calendar - a nail polish taster everyday, for 24 days? Yes please. However, spotted gracing the shelves behind my local Nails Inc.'s nail bar was their My Nail Polish Diary set, and I reckon it comes in as a pretty close contender - even if with a slightly different concept - housing twelve 10ml bottles featuring a bunch of best sellers, a number of new trend shades and first sightings of some special effect editions to come. A mini mani a day it is not, but a full-size varnish a month? I'll take it...

January offers the Kensington Caviar Top Coat - the best seller out of their top coat bunch. Super glossy and wet-look in finish, this final step sealer leaves talons touch dry within a speedy 45 seconds.

February has St Martin's Lane to give - a limited edition, glossy grape shade for AW13 influenced by the latest catwalk looks. Nails Inc. popped behind the scenes of Fashion Week, favourited every deep wine trend spied at the Mulberry and Christopher Kane shows, and so the inspiration for this bold  was born.

March holds a spot for my all-time favourite, Baker Street. After the birth of daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce ventured out sporting this shade in tribute, and bottles of the vibrant cobalt blue varnish have been flying off the shelves ever since - well, if it's good enough for Queen Bey...

April brings us a new neon coral named Sloane Avenue. I've got a funny feeling in my tummy that it'll be a SS14 release, and I know I'll be cracking this out come those seasons as the shade is right up my street (or should I say avenue?)

May delivers a special effects edition with added sprinkles - Fulham Place Gardens is a never-seen-before baby pink base graced with rainbow glitter. A cupcake-esque topping for tips springs to mind, coming soon to a Nails Inc. stand near you...

June dishes out a Feather Effect number - pale blue, peach and yellow put together the shade Chester and long pastel strand particles give a feathery effect to your fingertips worn alone or paired with your fave polish.

July presents the brightest best seller in the box, neon pink Notting Hill Gate. Together with a tan, I can see exactly why this summer stunner is such a popular paint.

August supplies us with a Leather Effect polish pick in a brand spanking new nude, Fleet Street. It goes on glossy, but dries to a leather-like texture with no need for a top coat, though if you're not a fan of the finish but favour the shade, slick some of what January has to offer over the top for more of a sheen.

September serves up the Electric Lane Special Effects Holographic Top Coat. Packed with holographic particles, dark and light non-shimmery polishes can be transformed in a sweep.

October hands us a Fibre Optic Effect newbie in Belgravia Place. This firey red show stopper features teeny holographic fibre optic pieces which, when applied over a selection of shades creates a little something dramatically different.

November nails the hottest trend of the season with metallic chic, taken from the spotted sheeny accents and accessories on the AW13 Marc Jacobs and Prada catwalks. The silvery South Kensington Foil Effect is newly formulated to allow foil pigments to paint on streak-free flawlessly, mimicking nail wraps and transfers.

December has an offering that's like Christmas in a bottle. The new Knightsbridge Road Galaxy Effect is created with mutli-coloured crushed foil and iridescent pearl particles - inspired by the vibrant colours and textures sported on the catwalks of Alexander Wang and Chloe, and transformed into a polish. Any party season attire can be jazzed up in a quick coating, alone or teamed with another shade - accent ring finger nail, anyone?

You can get your mitts on this from Feel Unique for a grand total of £42, not bad seeing as it's worth a whopping £138. Bar-gain. All encased a glitter-centric storage box - heads up: if you lift out the tray, there's a £10 Nails Inc. manicure voucher hiding underneath.  Now that's my 2014 diary sorted, what about you?! ...
