The Muji Drawers: Autumn Edition

My pick of the seasons makeup wise? It has to be autumn. I'm one for all things neutral and for me, this time of year sums that up over any other. Nude-toned cheeks, bronze lids and plum lips - you'll find all of the above stashed in my current Muji stack with an added slight post-summer glow thrown in for good measure. There's some oldies, newbies - heck, there's even some a come back from my Spring edition - I'll let you have a virtual rummage through my autumnal product array for yourselves...

Firstly foundation, and Bourjois' Happy Light is at the top of my present pile. Medium in coverage, slightly matte but still a little dewy in finish, it looks natural but manages to undo unwanted imperfections. To apply? Hourglass' Double Ended Complexion Brush is my go to tool of the moment. One end a base blender/blush applicator, the other a concealer setter. This was a purchase I usually pick out for travelling as a multi-tasker, but I just can't seem to buff in my basics without it. For concealer, Diorskin Nude's Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer is one to reach for this time of year as it keeps everything under the eyes nicely nourished whilst camouflaging dark circles.

Cheeks wise, Tarte's Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed has got autumn written all over it, and I feel I won't be eyeing-up another, but MAC's Tenderling is there as a backup. As a finishing powder come highlighter hybrid, Bourjois' Java Rice Powder is in too, but for a more concentrated post-summer glow I've got BECCA's Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in my reach to deliver a sheen on the tops of the cheeks.

I'm all about bronze with eyes, more so than ever at the moment, and Sephora's Jumbo Liner in Brown comes as my first pencil pick, the second is Rimmel's Scandaleye's pencil in Bad Girl Bronze, which has more of a goldy sheen. Sweep 'em on, blend 'em in and a sultry smokey look is served up in seconds, but for something slightly more shimmery, L'Oreal's Infallible Shadow's in Bronze Taupe and Amber Rush are other option's, though I've got those set aside for nights out. It made an appearance in my Spring Muji Edition but I've been heading back to NARS' And God Created The Woman Palette lately - nifty in size, day or night appropriate, it has some awesome autumnal shades about it, then I'm giving YSL's Les Singular a go to complete my made-up eye and so far it's lurve, but a pricey affair at that - one slick and non-clumped, volumized, lengthy, lush lashes are mine.

Two MAC members have made the lip line-up and Captive is one I crack out this time of year, every year. A pretty plum colour which I believe would compliment any complexion and can be worn subtly for day time, or paired with MAC's Dervish liner for something bolder. On the rouge side of things, there's MAC Brave Red, a classic which speaks for itself when everything else is kept low-key, but when a bronze-y eye is on the cards, I'll be swiping on Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm for a peachy nude pout. Lastly, a trusty tube of Dr Lipp will be keeping any flaky bits at bay and providing a smoothed out base or a bit of a sheen popped on top. Side note: as another multi-tasker, this can be slicked through brows to set, tapped on highpoints as a sheeny highlight or popped over eyes for a glossy lid - paired with a matte lip? I like the sound of this. I'll be reporting back in a post...
