The Awakeners

The sooner winter draws nearer, the harder I find it to detach myself from my duvet come morning. Somehow my cosy bed nest seems more appealing than the climates outside of my covers and it takes a bit (a lot) of willpower to part us - this is where my post-alarm clock product line-up comes in, making my AM wakeup call a little easier to cope with...

The shower is my first port of call and when my motivation seriously needs a kick up the behind I'll bring out the big guns in little bottles that are Aromatherapy Associates' Bath and Shower Oils - the 'Revive Morning' scent tends to fit the bill with a citrus-y mix of grapefruit, mandarin and eucalyptus. Now it can cause a bit of a slippery shower scene but applied to the skin prior to jumping in detoxes, invigorates and soon creates mini makeshift steam-room. Then in the way of washes, Bliss' Grapefruit and Aloe Soapy Suds* smells super zesty, lingers on the skin and simply a single sniff gets my backside into gear.

Onto the face, and a swipe over using a micellar water before a creamier choice usually does the trick - cue This Works' Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water, a rosewater based cleanser with lemon, orange and mint which brightens, balances and refreshes, and fully fits the bill as a morning member seeing as it's super stingy for evening routine eye makeup removal. Speaking of peepers, I'll then go in with some Liz Earle Eye Bright-soaked cotton pads placed over my dark circles for a minute or ten. This herbal-based soothing solution awakens and revitalises whilst sweeping away any mascara remnants from the night before (it happens). I finish with several spritzes of Caudalie's Beauty Elixir followed by a slathering of Jurlique's Purely Bright Day Moisturiser. Finally, hair - it's usually washed at some point midweek and weekends, but in between it gets a blast dry shampoo - my current can of the stuff is Phillip Kingsley's One More Day which re-vamps the volume and generally refreshes my tresses. No-frills freshen-up complete

  1. I'm terrible at getting up in the morning, so I need some of these products.
I love using an eye gel in the morning, because my eyes are always so tired and sore.

    1. Ah in that case I'm sure you'd LOVE the L.E Eye Bright ;-)

  2. Love the sound of the shower gel and have wanted to try the Liz Earle eye bright for ages xx

    1. You have to give it a whirl - it makes early wake ups a whole lot easier ;-)
