The Heat Survivors

My face is kept pretty low-key the majority of the time, more so this time of year where no-makeup, makeup mode well and truly sets in. Simply slapping on the SPF would seem sensible enough, but I like to think I can rely on a light layering of coverage and a colour kick without it smudging, budging or melting when I do fancy a bit of extra sumthin' sumthin' - and for that, there's a fair handful (or two) of products which sure enough survive the heat...

First up, Clinique's City Block Sheer, a sweat-safe SPF base. It protects against rays whilst preventing pores from becoming smog-clogged. I like. Perricone MD's No Concealer Concealer doesn't claim to be a melt-proof member but it sure hangs around alright and with a 35 factor it shields the uber sensitive under eye area too. A sweeping of Hourglass' Superficial Waterproof Bronzer is set to say and looks just as good come the evening as it did upon first morning makeup application. It's a non-muddy, natural matte which also used as a contour fakes fairly amazing chiselled cheekbones.

Non-waterproof mascara migrates down my face quicker than I can slick the stuff on in a hot climate - cue Anastasia's Lash Genius, which soon puts a stop to that. Labelled an 'umbrella for the eyes' this clear top coat goes on last thing and allows mascara to stay set come heat, pool or sea. A second saviour for my streamy peepers, is Clinique's Bottom Lash Mascara. Wand wise, it's cone-shaped and minute, making it easy enough to wiggle on, enhancing even the smallest of the bottom bunch - no flakes or traces with this, just long-lasting lower lashes, and one super cute tiny tube.

Another Anastasia fave is Brow Wiz - Non-waxy in texture, it glides on leaving lasting colour that I trust will cling on day long. On the lid side of things, Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Cream Shadows come in an awesome array of neutral shades and now in the twist-up stick sort too - I'll pop them on, pat them and it'll leave me worry free. Saying that, crinkles can occur if a base isn't spread on underneath, though that could just be down to my oily lids. Speaking of primer, the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Base is best for stay-put duties, it splash-proofs your eye makeup, is far from tacky with a silky finish. Lastly to brighten sleepy peepers, I'll pop on 3 Custom Color's Light Pencil - a flesh toned, waterproof formula which can be used in many ways. And you know I love a good multi-purpose product...

  1. I've heard of the lash genius before and I'd really like to try it! I prefer the formula of non waterproof so a topcoat rather than a full waterproof mascara sees right up my alley!
