Clinique City Block Sheer

Makeup wise, Clinique never fail to win me over; Chubby Sticks for lids and lips, a mascara especially for lower lashes and nail enamel with a message on sensitivity - but when it comes to their skincare, not so much. Even at the tender age of 16, I'm afraid their 3-Step Cleansing System got a wobbly thumbs up from me as my first premium skincare purchases, however, after much persuasion from a counter assistant, I handed over the rest of my pocket money to pick up a protecting suncare product, now that's a different story - hence why, though it's been a while, I've rekindled my love for a new tube of the stuff this Summer...

City Block does exactly what it tells in the title, protecting from pollution, grime, smog and smoke. Non-chemical but mineral based, this sunscreen cream glides on just as a tinted moisturiser would with a similar texture too. Talking of tint, there's a slight hint to it but blended out gives the skin more of a healthy glow than colour or coverage - applied alone it works well or even popped on as a primer pre-makeup gives a great base. The 'sheer' sort has an SPF strength of 25 which does just the job on a daily basis but there's a 40 as well for a higher-level layering, both being broad spectrum and oil-free formulas. It's lightweight enough to keep perspiration and excess oil at bay, and although I'm a normal/combo gal, things can get a little shiny out in the sun but I give it my stamp of stay-put approval. Clinique have catered to all skin types with this one, sensitive included, making it non-irritable when also evened out over the eyes.

Yet another face base warmly re-welcomed to the stash, a cult contender for a bit of makeup mixing - in fact, I've been squeezing out a pea-size and paired it with a pump of the This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle for a corrected complexion with a hint of tint and the added safety of sun protection. Simples.
