The Muji Drawers: Summer Edition

I won't speak too soon, but a season which slightly resembles Summer seems to have been thrust upon us UK lot and my usual makeup attire has been appearing on the slick side of proceedings come an end-of-the-day-mirror-glance. The time has arrived for a bit of a Muji move around and I've warmly welcomed a more heat and waterproof product wardrobe, some brighter coloured bits and of course not snubbing the SPF. Here are the faves padding out the acrylic drawers over the upcoming months...

First of the second-skin choices is Dr Jart's Water Fuse BB Cream SPF 25, a one-shade-suits-all formula that maintains moisture in the skin whilst leaving a dewy, fresh finish, evening out the tone and keeping sebum production at bay. Correcting, protecting and hydrating? Check! The This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle gives a sun-kissed glow whilst perfecting the complexion with it's flawless faking properties - I'll either buff this in alone for lazy days inside, or if I'm facing the rays I'll pair it with some SPF. For a light foundation layering, YSL's Le Teint Touche Eclat is on stand-by, whether it's a Summer eve out or to feed a heavier coverage craving, then under the eyes I'm patting on Perricone MD's No Concealer Concealer which covers circles like no other with the added bonus of SPF 35.

For a just-out-of-the-sun look or to fake some seriously chiseled cheekbones I'll reach for Hourglass's Superficial Waterproof Bronzer - a non-muddy, matte brown which withstands humidity and won't budge in the sun, city or beach heat. As an all-over-glow with subtle shimmer and peachy, pink hints, I dust on Diortan's Nude Healthy Glow Enhancing PowderCheek offerings are mostly of the creamy kind, with MAC's Ladyblush blushcreme as a pretty pink pick, NARS's Orgasm Multiple adds a golden sheen to my cheeks, but can also be sweeped onto collarbones, eyelids and lips. Burberry's Tangerine is in there too, for peachy apples perfection, more of a matte number but still looks uber natural.

On the eye side of things, I'm keeping it minimal with Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Cream Shadows in a few of my fave shades, Goldstone and Velvet Plum - crease-less colours which hang around even in the heat. Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils are my go-to to define the lash line without budging, but can be smudged all over the lid for something smoky - even a few on-trend bluey hues have made their way in, whether or not they'll get a gliding is anyone's guess. As a powder palette option, I'm revisiting my MAC quad housing All That Glitters, Cork, Expensive Pink and Honest.

Lashes will no-doubt be layered with what I've deemed the 'Clinique mascara trio' when I want to go all out - the primer to prep and protect, High Impact Extreme for a whole lot of volume and Bottom Lash to define the lower lot. On those sweaty Summer days, I rely on Anastasia's Lash Genius - deemed an 'umbrella for your eyes' - a clear top coat transforming any mascara into a waterproof version of itself, preventing that dreaded panda effect. Another Anastasia fave and Muji stack staple is Brow Wiz in Ash Blonde, and not forgetting a second daily makeup grind, Custom 3 Color's Light Clarifying Pencil.

Lip wise, the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors in Summer shades Candy Shimmer and Petal Shimmer, glide on giving a non-gloopy gloss. Another slick-on is Jemma Kidd's Hi Shine Touch in Coral and a bunch of the Bourjois Effect 3D's, which long-last time, some even waterproof. A few of the stick sort have earned a place too - one from YSL's newest Rouge Velupte Shine range fills a gap in the shade Corail Intuitive, a sheeny, far from drying formula with a watermelon whiff, mmm! MAC's Impassioned occasionally comes out to play, more so when I'm bronzed-up and is the loud pout option, then finally Dior Addict's 'Diorkiss' for a pretty pink pop. Summer face, summed up.

  6. You have such lovely products in your collection!
I still need to try the Clinique Bottom Lash mascara because I've really gotten back into applying mascara on my bottom lashes recently but it's so hard to do with a regular mascara wand. It looks like the Clinique Bottom Lash mascara will have to make an entrance into my collection soon.

  7. I love Muji drawers for storing makeup as well. Your cosmetics look absolutely gorgeous in these photos. You've got Dr. P's No Concealer Concealer on my radar now. Is it as thick as Bobbi Brown's undereye concealer?

    1. Ah thank you! I can't say I've tried BB's under eye concealer so I'm unable to compare I'm afraid - Perricone MD's is mighty thick, though blends in seamlessly :-) x
