Go-to Glide-On Liners

Liquid liner gal I am not; as much as I love the feminine feline flick, I find it too much of a faff to fiddle with as part of my daily makeup array, but having a little upper lash line definition doesn't go amiss all the more. Whether it's to bring some boldness to my standard bronze-y eye or to conjure up something smudged and smoky, I call on this certain liner lot to do the job - hail the gamechangers that are Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Pencils...

A wide, vibrant range of soft sticks that deliver dreamy, creamy, cushiony colour, sweeping on smoothly and staying that way for a moment before they dry into a long-time lasting finish. In that brief chance to blend, I'll use my ring finger or I'll crack out a fluffy brush, give it a smudge and all is set for the day. Same goes for when they're used squiggled all over the lid for a one-step smoky eye, which can be left worn alone or with powder shadow packed on top. I'm not a waterline liner wearer unless it's a flesh toned eye-brightener, but I've given these a test there only a few times and they well and truly stay put for the best part of the day.

I can't say the bright blues and goldy greens make a regular appearance but my preferred  picks from this bunch are Bourbon, a glimmering dark brown and the one I'm sporting above, Corrupt, a metallic chocolate colour and Rockstar, a deep purple. With browns being my thang, these two had to be at the top but adding a smidge of plum to the mix makes my usual bronzed-eye attire a little different. Then not forgetting the best-selling blacks, Zero and Perversion, a deeper, darker version of the two, both making lashes look uber thick when wiggled and blended between.

Most of my stash came from the 15 year anniversary set which housed a liner for every year, the majority from the main line but with a few limited editions thrown in for good measure. Last month saw the release of the 40 Shade 24/7 Eye Pencil Vault which cased 12 classics, 13 new numbers and 15 previously exclusive, brought back by popular demand. Only 40 limited edition sets came to UK shores and seemed to fly off the virtual shelves of Debenhams before I even got to sneak a peek. At £14 a pop, they're worth the pennies but I'd say to keep a beady eye out for the sets if you're looking to expand your stash - after all, you can never have too many coloured liners, even if they do only come out to play for an experimental makeup party...

  1. I love UD pencil liners! I've been shying away from using them (the darker colors, at least) because everything seems to smudge on me and I was afraid that these would too - but to my surprise, they dont! these are a new favorite of mine :)
