Pre-Mascara Primers

Day-to-day, I'm all about lengthened lashes as part of my minimal makeup look, but the odd occasion occurs when I'll fancy the thickness for a full and fluttery effect, for this the first step is in the prep and that all comes down to pre-mascara primers...

Now, this isn't a product I'll pick up on an every day basis, more so when I have the time to play with, but even a quick slick elongates the length I lust after, yet built-up generously, followed by lashings of mascara on top turns up the volume without having to fix on a pair of falsies. Not only do they comb through and keep a curl, the formulas are moisturising and multi-vitamin or protein packed to condition, strengthen and promote long-term lash growth. These primers have more than one sly trick up their sleeves - for a deep conditioning overnight treatment, layer it on alone and wash off the next morning. I'll often even brush it through my brows to sleep in, in an attempt to encourage a pair of Cara Delevingne-esque face framers of my own (never gonna happen!) but this, combined with toning down the tweezing seems to be sending me in the right direction. Back to the lashes, my top pick from the pack is Clinique's Lash Building Primer, it sweeps on without any clogs or clumps, I'll then immediately follow with my mascara - paired with the High Impact Extreme is a lash match made in heaven - but as with most primers, it applies white so wiggle your coloured coat as close as you can to the roots through to the tips to completely conceal.

Not necessarily a 'need' for your makeup bag, but it makes all the difference on the days I want it to and at £11 it won't break the bank. If you've got naturally little lashes that could also do with conditioning or you're after the next best thing to boost the benefits of your mascara, I'd say pick this up and pile it on - your strengthened, lengthened, fuller flutters will thank you for it!

    1. It is! I don't know so much about a growth treatment, but it's definitely left my lashes more conditioned and less brittle :-) x

  4. I've just bought this actually so it's funny you should post about it! Just getting to grips with it, interesting that you apply mascara straight away because I'd been letting it dry but maybe I'll try it your way instead. xx

    1. Ah I find it doesn't work so well if you leave it to dry - they say to apply mascara straight over the top, give it a go :-) x
