Day to Night with NARS 'And God Created The Woman'

Another day, another palette release and this one comes as one of two Spring specials from NARS - enter the 'And God Created The Woman' eye kit, featuring some of their best selling shades served up in a convenient compact. I'm not really one for anything labelled 'limited edition' but this sure could have started something and with plenty of notebook scribbles of shades I've wanted to try as a NARS shadow newbie, this seemed a pretty good place to start...

The super-sleek, dinky palette houses six pretty powders - four shimmers, two mattes, all neutral numbers - and comes complete with an eye shader brush and a travel-friendly tube of the Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base for priming oily lids. The top row, from left to right, offers Alhambra, a rosy champagne shimmer, Bellisima, a matte taupe and Kalahari, a shimmery golden bronze, and the bottom bunch, Galapagos, a bitter chocolate with gold glimmer, Coconut Grove, a deep, taupe-toned brown and Night Clubbing a dark brown-black with gold pearl. It's shade array would suggest some members can be subtly sheered out and others shaded on for a sultry smoke - I deemed it palette perfection for a day-to-night makeup transformation, this weekend especially as a working afternoon was in order, with a party on the cards for the same evening.

My daytime eye first started with a slick of the Pro-Prime Base to ensure my shadow could endure several work hours right through to a night dedicated on the dance floor. I tapped Alhambra in the inner corner for a bit of a brighten, Kalahari was then washed over the lid and Bellisima swept through the crease, finished with a single coat of mascara on my upper lashes only.

Come the evening pre-party prep, I topped up my tear-duct highlight and gave my lids another dusting of Kalahari. Blended into the socket was Galapagos with a smidge also run across the lower lash line, Coconut Grove was concentrated in the outer corner and finally Night Clubbing got pressed into the upper lash line to softly define. I layered up my lashes again, this time with a wiggle of Clinique's Bottom Lash mascara applied to the lower lot too. Some clever concealer work and a swipe of a nude lippy - MAC's Hue, and I was good go go.

Adding this to your palette pile will come with a price tag of £40.50, but it won't be hanging about for long - Space NK are stocking it exclusively, NARS have it online too - it definitely took some hunting down for me to get my hands on it, so it comes as no surprise that limited edition lovers and neutral shadow nuts alike seem to be snapping this up quicker than you can say, 'And Woman Created a Frenzy'...

  1. I'm really not one for eyeshadows but there's just something about this palette that makes me want to run to my nearest Space NK waving my credit card in the air. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for a limited edition product but it's just so pretty... x Becky

  7. I am SO tempted to get this palette!
So far, I've only used two NARS blushes and the classic Laguna bronzer and I love them all. I might have to get this palette now.

What do you think of the brush, by the way?
