Drug Store Cosmetics Haul!

I knew I was going to have a field day when Boots announced 3-for-2 on all cosmetics, so I went along and well, I had a field day! I have wanted to do more inexpensive makeup tutorials using mainly drugstore products, including a prom look, which is soon coming up!

Seeing as the weather has been so nice in England, I thought I'd take my camera outside! Here's what I got..

Clockwise from top: Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara, Bourjois Magnetic Blue Eye Shadow, Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, Bourjois Rose Coup De Foudre Blush, Maybelline Sweet Pink Lipstick and Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.

I have heard many great things about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and concealer, so I picked up one of each and can honestly say, I have nothing bad to say about them what so ever, they are amazing for a drugstore brand!  I love their 'Fruit Therapy Radiance Boosting formulas'.

The foundation contains apricot, for a radiant glow, melon to support hydration, apple as an anti-oxidant and ginger provides the skin with energy. It claims to last for 16 hours leaving a 'perfectly glowing complexion and toned skin'.

The concealers fruit therapy contains apricot, again for radiance and raspberry as a micro-circulation activator. When used in conjunction with each other, it gives such good coverage and really did leave my skin looking radiant!

I also wanted a really pretty pink lipstick for a prom tutorial, after searching and searching all of the brands, I found the perfect colour from Maybelline's ColorSensational range in Sweet Pink. I absolutely love the packaging for this lipstick (see first pic), they also smell amazing!

I also have wanted a midnight blue eye shadow, as it really makes blue eyes 'pop'! Bourjois provided me with the perfect shade from their baked mineral pigments eye shadow. The colour is stunning and I can't wait to use this in a tutorial, watch this space!

Bourjois have recently teamed up with French artist Juliette Buré in celebration of their baked powders, created in Paris in 1863! It's a rosy pink blush with a slight shimmer, plus the packaging is so cute, I just had to get one!

L-R: Bourjois Magnetic eye shadow, Bourjois Rose Coup De Foudre Blush

Finally, I got Maybelline's new Falsies Volume Express mascara in 'Black Drama'. The old Falsies mascara has been raved about so much so I was dying to try the new one out. This mascara has a new formula with 'extra long black fibres and carbon black pigments', creating a volumized and lengthened false lash effect.

The applicator is a spoon brush and instead of a stiff stem much like other mascaras, this has a unique flexible stem which helps to create volume without clumps and coats even those hard to reach lashes!

Keep an eye out for more makeup tutorials including these drug store products!

Have any of you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Skincare Review: Neal's Yard Power Berry Range

Eek! First of all, I'd like to apologize for my lack of blog posting, I have just been so busy but I do promise to improve very soon!

When I fall in love with a product, I  tend to stick with it. This was the case with the Liz Earle skincare range. Then after a while, I might feel intrigued to experiment and give something else a go, in this case it was the Neal's Yard 'Power Berry' skincare range.

Lesson learnt? To stay with what you're used to. However, I do have some good things to say..

As I've said before, I'm a complete sucker to any thing that is organic or made from as many natural ingredients as possible, so when I saw this range online, claiming to be paraben, sulphate and silicone free, I automatically added it to my shopping cart and handed over my card details, barely containing my excitement for when they would arrive!

I purchased the 'Power Berry Facial Wash' and this was probably the product I was most interested in as I have always been a 'creamy cleanser' kind of girl! First impressions? I was impressed! I loved the tinted blue glass packaging and the smell of mixed berries was just like summer in a bottle!
When dispensed, the wash is of a liquid gel consistency, which lathers up into a creamy milk when applied to the skin with water.
After using it for a while, I quickly began to notice how much it was actually drying out my skin, it also made my eyes really stingy and sore, making me wonder what actually is in it..

I also got the 'Power Berry Moisturising Lotion' a really light, non greasy moisturiser, which I was suprisingly satisfied with. It again had the delicious scent and seemed to compensate for my dry, flaky skin after using the wash.

Finally, I bought the 'Power Berry Facial Mask' which was highly recommended as a hydrating face mask by Natural Health in their 2010 Beauty Awards. Containing a unique formula of acai, bilberry, cranberry and grape, the mask has a light, refreshing, gel-like texture, which is slightly sticky. As it is washed off, it is turned it into a mild, milky exfoliater with the help of the grainy berry seeds! I love this product because you are actually getting two products for the price of one and I instantly notice a difference in my skin after use, it feels fresh, glowy and radiant!

Over all, I feel I got my moneys worth from the mask and the moisturising lotion, but did not enjoy using the wash at all. I am quite happily going to use them up and then stick to my trusty Liz Earle range!

What skin care products do you guys use? Have you tried this range before?
