Sleeping Beauty..

Beauty sleep, there's more to it than just the saying, 8 hours worth is probably the most important part of your beauty regime. Overnight, skin strengthens, cells regenerate and replenish, and the body detoxifies, recharges and recovers. Here are a few of my favourite bedtime beauty tips to ensure you wake up feeling fresh:

♥ After removing the day's makeup, apply a rich night cream, bedtime is the best way to let products do their work and really soak into the skin. I like Liz Earle's Skin Repair Moisturiser,  it's non-greasy, nourishing and feels luxurious. You can see my skincare routine HERE

♥ I also like to apply a eye cream, my favourite is Origins Ginzing, it depuffs, protects and moisturises, so that you wake up feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed :-)

♥ In the Winter time especially, I enjoy applying an intense foot cream then covering up my feet with a pair of snuggly bed socks. Your feet control the temperature for the rest of your body, so making sure they are wraped up and warm, equals a blissful nights sleep.

♥ This goes for hands too, if you suffer from dry, cracked skin, apply a deep conditioning hand cream, then slip on a pair of cotton gloves. They'll be completely transformed in the morning, feeling soft, supple and smooth!

♥ An hour or so before I sleep, I love to light a candle, it gives the room a warmth, fills it with a heavenly scent and instantly relaxes you. My personal faves are by Yankee Candle, I love Clean Cotton and Water Garden. Don't forget to blow them out before you cosy up!

♥ Reading unwinds the mind, easing worries and stress, and so in turn, allows you to doze off peacefully. I love girly, easy reads such as Lauren Conrad's ''L.A Candy'' novels. Lindsey Kelk's ''I Heart..'' series are brilliant too, although very hard to put down!!

♥ Whilst reading, I like to sip on a hot cup of milk or cocoa (be sure to brush your teeth after!). Milky based drinks are perfect as the good old white stuff contains the amino acid L-tryptophan, which has been proven to help you sleep.

And on that note, I think it may be time for a cat nap..

Ombre Hair

What else is there to do whilst your hair is covered in dye than to blog about it?! If you read my Autumn ombre nails post, I have been loving the gradient colour effect on my nails but had said I wasn't daring enough to take it to my hair.. Well I guess I thought I'd just give it a go, didn't I?

After reading many other ombreing experiences I was intrigued, however I was most inspired when I saw a photo on the back of a book I'm currently reading, Sugar and Spice by Lauren Conrad, and I just fell in love. I love Lauren's simple, yet classic style and her influential, up-to-the-moment trends. I had seen her Hair How To: Tipping Out blog post but it takes a lot of guts to be able to do that, especially with to-'dye'-for hair like hers! Although the picture of her bleach blonde ombred hair looked amazing and I just had to experiment, take a look at the photo HERE!

What's not to love?! It might not be to everyone's taste but I really like it, here's how mine turned out..

In case you're wondering I used the Jerome Russell B blonde highlighting kit (for light to dark brown hair). I scrunched it into the tips of my hair and to the ends of my fringey bits, left it on for about 45 mins (this varies depending on your hair colour) washed it off and applied nourishing oil to the tips before I blow dried it, as it felt in much need of moisture after the dye! My hair is already a natural blonde, but this kit is basically a bleach, and my aim was to end up with tips lighter than my own hair colour, I think I achieved that :-)

Perfume collection

Apart from makeup, fragrance is probably the next thing I have an unhealthy obsession for. It's going to take me years to get through the bottles I have, but still I continue to add to it! I always keep a few on display, and I have grouped these together obviously for the pinky colour scheme, they all tie in quite well together, and also because they are the prettiest to look at! Different coloured, not so attractive bottles I have, I keep stored away in the cupboard.

How cute is this mirrored perfume tray?! I have longed for one of these for a while and found this beauty in a little knick-knack store for a bargain price. Even though they say perfume should be stored away from sunlight and kept in a cool, dark place to help prevent the scent and colour from changing, I can't help but have them on show!

You can see the video of my complete perfume collection HERE!

What's in your perfume collection? Do you have an all time favourite?

Autumn Ombre Nails

The 'ombre' effect has been the 'in thing' to do for the past year or so, firstly trending from fashion magazines and taking off every where else. If you don't already know what ombre/ombre-ing is, it's basically a graduation of colour, starting from dark to light, or light to dark, in the same tone of colours or completely different! From hair, to clothes and even extending to finger tips, the ombre effect didn't really appeal to me at first, but I have seriously grown to like it, LOVE it even! I haven't been daring enough to dye my locks as yet, but I gave it a go on my nails..

(Spot the odd one out!) L-R OPI 'Suzi Says Da', OPI 'Over The Taupe', Barry M 'Mushroom', OPI 'Dulce De Leche', OPI 'Passion'.

And instead of each nail a different colour, I've also really been liking the thumb and index finger painted the same colour, the middle and ring finger painted the same of another colour, and the pinky, on its own, painted yet another. I somehow feel this way style of ombre is slightly more sophisticated compared to the first photo's?!

L-R OPI 'Chocolate Mousse', OPI 'Dulce De Leche', OPI 'Passion'.

L-R OPI 'Over The Taupe', OPI 'Dulce De Leche', OPI 'Passion'.

Whatever the tones and shades, mix it up, have fun with it! I will definitely be experimenting a little more, with different colours, so expect more blog posts like this one! I thought these shades were perfect for the Autumn weather and I can't wait to wear them more often!

What is your take on the ombre effect? Have you tried it out in any way shape or form?! If not, will you be giving it a go?

Rockin' Velcro Rollers

When it comes to creating any style in my hair, nothing seems to be achievable. Although I'm lucky to have sleek, fine hair, it is actually quite heavy and anything I try to do, drops out straight away, only the slightest bit annoying!

I have used velcro rollers in the past and after not having much luck, I gave up. I have since decided to give it another go and purchased the Trevor Sorbie Self-Grip Roller set, containing 30 various sized velcro rollers. After a couple of uses, I've found it really lifts my hair at the roots, creates huge volume, bounce and texture. Many of you might be looking at the photos thinking, it doesn't look anything special, but for my hair, this is a BIG difference!!

This is how I 'roll' ;-)
After washing hair, apply volumizing mousse to roots and blow-dry until almost done, leaving the hair slightly damp.
♥ Apply the rollers. I like to use the largest on the crown of my head. I make a line of rollers starting from the front of my head all the way to the base of my neck. I pull the hair up, apply the roller to the tips of the hair and pull backwards tightly to the roots.
♥ I take sections each side, using medium and smaller sized rollers, working from the top down.
♥ I hold each roller in place with a kirby grip/bobby pin to secure it while it sets.
♥ When I've finished the whole head, I spray over with a flexible but strong hairspray and leave for about 30 minutes.
♥ After 30 minutes, I remove all of the pins and gently pull each roller out, starting at the top of my head. Once all the rollers are removed, I ruffle my hair and apply another light spritz of hairspray for extra hold!

I hope that my description makes some sense, but if you don't quite understand, you should get the gist of it by looking at the first photo! Remember, everybody's hair is different, so it might work differently for you, I'm no expert on styling hair but I've just found this way works best for me. Although it doesn't really curl my hair, it does give it lift, which is what the rollers claim to do.

Let me know if you give it a try!

Oasis Beauty

I was a very lucky winner of a very generous giveaway a few months back, from the lovely Shannon (check out her blog here!) She had teamed up with Oasis Beauty to hold a giveaway, the prize being an Oasis Beauty at home facial kit. I was extremely excited to be told I was the winner, and having never tried any products from Oasis Beauty before, I couldn't wait to give them a go!

The kit contains a Tropical Fruit Smoothie facial exfoliant, a Honey & Berry face mask and a gentle facial brush and although it has been designed for oily skin, the exfoliant is suitable for all skin types and the mask suitable also for normal/combination, which is my skin type.

I felt as if I should use the products for a good couple of weeks before I could give an honest review, I've probably been using them for the past month or so now. I have been using the exfoliator a couple of times a week, in conjunction with the brush. I have to say it smells delicious and leaves skin feeling silky smooth afterwards. The mask I have used once a week, and having not used a face mask for a really long time, it felt extremely luxurious and again after use, left my skin with a lovely radiant glow!
Overall, I'm really impressed with these Oasis Beauty products I've tried so far. You can take a look at what else they have to offer here! Once again a huge thank you to Shannon for holding this giveaway!

21 years young..

I had an amazing birthday, although unfortunately, I spent a whole 9 hours at work my actual day of birth (Boo!). However, over the Bank Holiday weekend, we celebrated with a huge family get together and lots of good food, including my birthday cake (pictured above), a chocolate orange sandwich sponge (YUM!) which me and mum made all by ourselves.

I received lots of lovely presents, my main ones being a new Pandora bracelet and charms to go on it, you can watch my birthday haul video HERE! As well as lots of special messages and wishes, which to be completely honest, and selfish, is one of the best part of birthdays as it's the only day of the year which is really all about YOU!

My celebrations are still continuing, Sunday we are heading out to Cafe Rouge, a restaurant we go to for every family birthday, the food is just devine. I might just add a few more photo's to this post later, but I wanted to get it up before my birthday is long gone..

Just thought I'd share a few memories of my special day with you all :-)
